Purchase Price Allocation (PPA) is the process of allocating the total consideration (purchase price) paid in a business acquisition to the identifiable tangible and intangible assets and liabilities of the acquired business, at their fair values. Any residual amount after allocation is recognized as goodwill.
 PPA is needed primarily for financial reporting (Ind-AS/IFRS) after a business combination.
